During the first week, I worked on my project proposal, which focused on enhancing the CCI community experience, from the moment students apply, all the way through to graduation. I refined the main objectives and outlined a clear methodology to support the project’s goals. Once the proposal was ready, I submitted it to my assigned supervisor for feedback to ensure I was on the right track from the beginning.
CCI Virtual Campus Tour + Course Information Chatbot
Introduction
This project aims to develop an interactive virtual campus tour and course information chatbot for the Creative Computing Institute (CCI). As digital accessibility becomes increasingly important in higher education, this initiative seeks to enhance student engagement by providing an immersive, user-friendly experience. The virtual tour will utilise 360-degree photography to offer a realistic exploration of campus facilities, while the AI-powered chatbot will provide instant responses to course-related inquiries.
Objectives
- To create a high-quality, interactive virtual tour using 360-degree images, allowing users to explore campus spaces remotely;
- To develop an AI-driven chatbot capable of answering queries about courses, prerequisites, application deadlines, and career pathways;
- To integrate both tools into a single platform accessible via web and mobile devices, ensuring an intuitive user experience.
Methodology
The virtual tour will be created using 360-degree cameras, capturing panoramic images of key campus CC locations. These images will be stitched and hosted on an interactive platform using WebVR or similar technologies. The chatbot will be built using NLP frameworks such as GPT-based AI, trained on institutional data. Usability testing might be conducted to refine functionality and accessibility.
